CLEAN COMMUNITY SUB-COMMITTEE

1. To develop a positive working relationship with the Keep Conyers-Rockdale

Beautiful department to promote and enhance the beauty of Rockdale County

2. To be familiar with County ordinances that relate to noise, litter, pets, nuisances, etc.

3. To educate the public on how to report issues with noise, litter, pets, nuisances, etc.

4. To encourage citizen participation in recycling and neighborhood clean-up events

5. To send Open Records Requests as needed regarding Clean Community matters

SMART GROWTH-PLANNING, DEVELOPMENT AND ZONING  SUB-COMMITTEE

1. To be familiar with the Comprehensive Land Use Plan and encourage the Board of Commissioners’ adherence to same

2. To participate in the development of or revision to any new Comprehensive Land Use Plan

3. To be familiar with County ordinances that pertain to planning, development and zoning.

4. To keep abreast of all rezoning and special land use requests and engage the

community by electronic and other means of upcoming rezoning or special land use requests that may affect them.

5. Attend Board of Commissioner and Conyers/Rockdale Planning Commission meetings.

6. To be familiar with the rezoning/special land use application and work with the

Director of Rockdale Planning and Development Department to encourage and ensure that all areas of concern have been addressed (e.g., roads, schools, water,

sewer, etc.) in an aggregate and cumulate manner for each rezoning or special land use application.

7. Monitor and encourage the effective use of available County land (e.g., parks, etc.)

8. To send Open Records Requests as needed regarding matters of planning, development and rezoning. 

BOARD OF EDUCATION SUB-COMMITTEE

1. To encourage the continuous improvement of Rockdale County schools.

2. To increase accountability and transparency in matters related to attaining educational goals, budget, millage rate, crime in schools, Superintendent bonus relative to meeting educational goals.

3. To recommend changes that will improve the education and safety of all students.

4. To attend Board of Education meetings.

5. To send Open Records Requests as needed regarding matters related to students education, Board of Education financial matters, etc.

6. To work with legislators to increase senior tax exemptions.

BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FINANCIAL OVERSIGHT SUB-COMMITTEE

1. To monitor spending in relationship to the budget.

2. To identify risks and respond to emerging threats to financial stability.

3. To identify and attempt to constrain excessive financial risks to taxpayers (e.g., employee take-home vehicles, increased hiring in relation to population growth, etc.)

4. To increase accountability and transparency concerning County spending, setting millage rate, etc.

5. To recommend changes that will improve the County’s financial stability and foster better monetary stewardship.

6. To send Open Records Requests as needed regarding County financial matters.

INFRASTRUCTURE SUB-COMMITTEE (Roads, Water, Sewer, and Stormwater)

1. To increase accountability and transparency in matters involving County roads, bridges, stormwater, sewer and water needs, issues and projects.

2. To monitor, encourage and follow-up on County actions on issues regarding, including but not limited to, failing sewer systems, crumbling bridges, crowded roads, corroded water pipes, eroding stormwater systems, etc.

3. To monitor spending on infrastructure projects.

4. To send Open Records Requests as needed regarding County infrastructure matters.
